Frequently asked questions
What does the repair actually do?
It re-reads the file in a forgiving way, rebuilds the internal structure (the cross-reference table and page tree) and saves a clean copy. If that is not possible, it renders each readable page and rebuilds the PDF from page images, so the text can no longer be selected.
Can every damaged PDF be recovered?
No. If the file is not really a PDF or the damage is too severe, nothing can be read and that file is reported as failed. Files that were already fine are simply returned as a clean copy.
What happens to my original files?
They are never modified. You download new repaired copies.
What about password-protected PDFs?
They are flagged and skipped. Remove the password first with Batch unlock PDF, then edit them.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDFs are processed entirely in your browser tab, so they never leave your device.
