Frequently asked questions

Will scanned PDFs work?

Only if they already contain a text layer. Scanned pages that are just images have no text to read, so their file comes out empty. This tool does not perform OCR.

Is the layout and formatting kept?

No. You get the plain text only, in reading order — fonts, columns, images and tables are not reproduced, and line breaks follow the original lines.

What happens to my original files?

They are never modified. You download new .txt files.

What about password-protected PDFs?

They are flagged and skipped. Remove the password first with Batch unlock PDF, then edit them.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The PDFs are processed entirely in your browser tab, so they never leave your device.
