Why batch convert PDFs to grayscale with VitePDF

  • Prepare a whole folder of documents for black-and-white printing or archiving in one go, instead of converting each file separately.
  • Nothing is uploaded — your documents never leave your device.
  • Predictable result: every page becomes a clean grayscale image at print-friendly resolution, with the original page size and orientation.

Frequently asked questions

Will the text still be selectable?

No. Each page is flattened into a grayscale picture, so the text can no longer be selected or searched. Keep your original files if you need to copy text from them.

Will the files get smaller?

Not always. Because every page becomes an image, a text-based PDF can end up larger, while PDFs full of colour photos often get smaller. If size matters, try the batch compress tool as well.

Can I convert password-protected PDFs?

Not directly. A file that needs a password to open is reported as locked — remove the password first with the batch unlock tool, then convert it.

What about password-protected PDFs?

They are flagged and skipped. Remove the password first with Batch unlock PDF, then edit them.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. The PDFs are processed entirely in your browser tab, so they never leave your device.
